The Art of Layering Necklaces

The Art of Layering Necklaces

With the very conservative Filipino culture, it is uncommon to see a person in the water wear jewelry, much more stacks of necklaces while surfing. I first saw stacking necklaces back in 2023 when I went to Bali, an island in Indonesia that houses many western immigrants. Bali is a very sought-after destination offering a wide coastal line, good surf and a wild night out. Reminds me of where I come from, La Union. While I was there, I tried buying a couple of chains in different sizes and my favorite was the gold snake chain paired with my pearl bead necklace. I felt like it is very elegant, yet catchy. I realized that I could look stunning surfing and at the club.

Choosing your necklaces

Selecting the right necklace is crucial to achieving a curated look. Opt for necklaces in different lengths, texture and design. Start with a shorter necklace as a base such as our 16-inch snake chain or our dainty 18-inch chains, and gradually add longer necklaces to create depth and dimension.

Mixing Chains and Pendants

Don’t be afraid to mix textures and pendants to add personality to your look. Explore which necklace best matches your personality.

Lengths

Lengths of the necklaces are important to achieve the perfect art. We have 16, 18 and 20-inch snake chains, 18-inch textured chains and you can get your fave pendant in 18, 20 or 24 inch bilog snake chains.

Personal Touch

Explore which necklace best matches your personality. Choose your fave chains and match it with a pendant necklace that speaks to you. We have a variety of gold plated pendants that are simple, yet bold and a collection of hand-made pearl pendants in a shade that perfectly compliments gold and the Filipina skin tone.

Creating Balance

To achieve a balanced look with your jewelry, consider the neckline of your outfit. For crewneck or scoop-neck tops, highlight your collarbones with shorter necklaces. If you're wearing a V-neck or button-down shirt, layer longer necklaces to complement the neckline and add depth to your outfit.

In my world, I prefer wearing a two-layer chain combination: a 16-inch snake chain with an 18-inch textured chain when I wear a bandeau or a straight-neck bikini. This pairing adds elegance to the neckline. For triangle bikinis or low scoop bikinis, I opt for two or three layers with pendants to enhance the neckline and personalize my beachwear style.

Layering with confidence

Personally, I was initially skeptical about wearing layered necklaces, thinking it might be too much. However, feeling like a boring mom of two, I decided to give it a try in Bali—and I ended up liking it. From my experience, layered necklaces suit all my customers well. I always tell them, "You glow, girl," as they leave my shop.

Adapting to Occasions

I wear my necklaces even while surfing. The 16-inch snake chain is a constant; I've worn it every day for the past six months. When I'm in the water, I typically pair the snake chain with my 20-inch pearl pendant. In La Union, known for its vibrant nightlife, I often add an extra layer of necklaces for added attention and style.

Mastering the art of layering gold necklaces lets you effortlessly enhance your style with personalized looks. Whether you prefer a minimalist approach or want to turn heads, layering gold necklaces offers endless possibilities to showcase your unique taste and flair.
